What is the Discipleship Pathway?
No matter where you are on your journey with Christ, we have a place for you to grow a deeper relationship with Him here at First Church.
We are all called to become Disciples and First Church has some exciting multi-track options to help you in your discipleship and to grow & enrich your faith. Whether you are a new believer wondering how to begin a relationship with Christ, if you want to experience God in a deeper way, or if you simply want to dig deep into scripture, then we have various opportunities for you.
Our Discipleship Pathway is about to begin its Winter Trimester, with new curricula & groups. When you are ready to connect into one of these groups or studies, contact our Director of Discipleship, Rob Gillgrist or see dates & details on the right so you can sign up after service.
The Growth Group Track runs in small group settings of 12 to 15 people who desire to live a Christian life. Groups get together weekly to discuss how to apply biblical principles into our everyday life. They are often described as 'life changing' and are known for developing real & meaningful relationships through study & fellowship. Groups runs for 5 to 6 weeks at a time.
New options this Winter Trimester include studies on parenting, marriage, ministry and truths of God's Kingdom.
The Disciple track is for people who want to dig deep into scripture & study the bible. “BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY” is the foundation of the DISCIPLE Bible Study Program. These studies use Biblical language and images as they draw upon the work of scholars to aid the understanding of the Bible.
Classes begin in September and run for 34 weeks.
Commitment: These studies require reading large portions of scripture each week as they are based on careful study and preparation. Expected commitment is approximately 45 - 60 minutes at-home study each day, plus weekly study with your group.
The Experiential Track is for those who may be thinking "It's not that I need more Bible Study right now - what I really need is to find out how to experience God more in my life." This track will focus on how to experience God, how to talk to God, and how to think like God.
The track uses several cirricula, including Experiencing God, Too Busy Not to Pray, Foundation and others. The completion of this track will equip participants to know where God is working in their life, how to adjust our plans to God's plans, how to understand God's will for our life, how to pray, how to listen to God, and how to begin thinking more like Christ.

What is Discipleship?
Discipleship defines the intentional steps we take to live our lives in a more Christ-like manner. It is more than just following a program - it is a desire to develop a relationship with Christ & to become more like Him. Discipleship is about putting Jesus first in all things, following and modeling the teachings of Jesus as well as forming relationships and having fellowship with other Christ-followers.
