Dr. Eugene Gatty
Eugene Gatty, Ph.D., better known as Gene, serves as Pastor of Discipleship for First Church. His duties include assessing the spiritual gifts of the congregation, helping them to find ministry opportunities in the church, assisting them in becoming more mature followers of Christ through Bible studies, helping to mentor and create mentorship opportunities for others and lead the staff and church in new opportunities to learn God's word. As a member of the pastoral staff, Gene assists the Senior Pastor in occasionally delivering messages and counseling.
Gene has been in business as a sales representative, and most recently, as co-owning and operationg a business/management consulting business with his wife, Ann Gatty, Ph.D. He has been a secondary English teacher, school principal and school district superintendent. While the superintendent of Hazelton, he was elected Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year. He has been adjunct professor at several universities and has had leadership positions in various churches.
Married to Ann, he has two stepchildren, Adam and Evan Kowalski. Adam is in his third year at West Point Military Academy, and Evan, a junior in high school, is a USTA tennis competitor. Gene's other children are married. Mrs. Kim Altmire, lives in Butler and works at Butler Memorial Hospital, and Mrs. Cynthia Gibson lives in Cincinnati, OH, and is a marketing consultant for Mercer International.
