When the Apostle Paul refers to the evil we wrestle with he often uses some of these terms: the present age, the world, the age of sin and death, the works of darkness.  The reality is in our world there are spiritual forces that powerfully influence our world and the people who live in it. In so much as there is darkness in this world, we - the Church - are raised in the same resurrection power as Jesus.  Being raised in this resurrection power, we fight against the evil forces of this world that are not flesh and blood; they are the rulers, authorities, cosmic powers of this present darkness.

Read the following scripture passages this week and consider how we fight in light of Christ being our king and in light of our participation in the church.

MONDAY (11/23): 1 Peter 3:8-15a

TUESDAY (11/24): 2 Corinthians 3:7-4:18

WEDNESDAY (11/25): Jude

THURSDAY (11/26): Revelation 5

As we prepare for our next times of worship and as we enter into a time of Advent begin to consider what these scriptures tell us about actively waiting on the Lord.

FRIDAY (11/27): Revelation 22: 7-21 and/or Malachi 3:16 - 4:5

SATURDAY (11/28): Isaiah 64: 1-9

SUNDAY (11/29): Mark 13:24-37
