Today’s scripture: Philippians 4:4-13
The initial practice of making room for deeper conversation with the Spirit involves taking a good look at the clutter in our lives. Chuck calls it the decision to reorder one’s private world and practice the discipline of simplicity. Scripture is clear: the more time we spend focused on STUFF in life, the less time there seems to be available for the ONE who makes it possible for us to have stuff in the first place. DECLUTTERING is a major emphasis in many places of our society today because the more clutter we have the more stuff we have to manage, and the less time there seems to be for what’s really important. The need to simplify life rests on something Paul discovered the deeper he walked with Jesus: contentment. The more he trusted Jesus to provide for what he needed, the more content he found himself to be, and the more real the presence of the Spirit became in his life.
