HOLY SPIRIT, COME...

As we’ve been praying and listening to the Holy Spirit this winter and spring, I am sensing that while we want the Spirit’s direction, we don’t know that much about who the Holy Spirit is and how the Spirit operates in our lives and our life together. Before we can talk about the way of God’s Kingdom or what it means to be “On Mission with God,” we must get a sense of connection to the presence and work of the Holy Spirit, and what that looks like in our lives. During the last series, I encouraged the use of a simple breathprayer: Holy Spirit, Come... Braden suggested that as a great title for this series, and I agree. When we pray that prayer, who are we inviting into our lives and what will the person of the Holy Spirit actually do in and through us? This series will focus on who the Holy Spirit is, how the Spirit functions, what the Spirit produces, how to get connected to the Spirit, and how we know the Spirit is present – for and in us individually and corporately as a church.

TAKING IT HOME

“As we read through the major Prophets over the summer, we will encounter words and images that may be unfamiliar or difficult to understand. A good study Bible is helpful in bringing clarity to those places of confusion. Pastor David recommends the NIV Study Bible or the Life Application Study Bible, which is available in multiple translations. If you are reading scripture electronically, Pastor David recommends a subscription to biblegateway.com. That subscription provides access to multiple study Bibles and resources.”
